The Sun Java System Directory Proxy Server 5.2 (formerly Sun ONE Directory Proxy Server 5.2) is a software product that provides secure firewall-like services for the Sun Java System Directory Server. Designed to accommodate large numbers of users, the Sun Java System Directory Proxy Server works with the Sun Java System Directory Server to provide protection against directory "denial of service" attacks to enable around the clock availability. As a lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) gateway, it automatically routes requests from clients to the appropriate directory server through a referral mechanism.
